Today was the winning projects presented for the construction of the Vienna University of Economics at the site of the former Messe Wien. The area lies south of the new trade fair Vienna and extends from Prater to Krieau. In the south, the area bounded by the Südportalstraße.

In May, the competition for the masterplan of the area was decided. Has won this competition architect Laura Spinadel (BUSarchitektur).
The individual components are of 5 different architectural firms from England (Peter Cook), Spain (Carme Pinos, Eduardo Arroyo) and Japan (Hitoshi Abe) planned. The heart of the campus is the library designed by Zaha Hadid. The total construction cost is estimated at 250 million €. With the academic year 2012/13, the whole WU be resettled in the Prater. What will happen to the old WU in the Spittelau is still open. The University of Vienna but has already expressed interest.
